Call For Presentations – 35th Annual Conference


 

NADD 35th Annual Conference & Exhibit Show-2018

October 31 – November 2, 2018 Seattle, WA  

This year’s conference chairpersons are:  

Jana Dreyzehner, MD,  Chief Medical Officer and Founder, Starfish Health, Nashville, TN; Tony Thomas LISW-S, ACSW, Executive Director, Welcome House, Inc., WestLake, Ohio;  Honorary Co-Chairpersons John Schneider, Seattle Seahawks Executive Vice President & General Manager, and his wife Traci Schneider. 

You are invited to submit a Presentation proposal for the 35th Annual NADD Conference.
Presentation proposals are encouraged that illustrate this year’s theme:   

 

Dancing in the Rain: Embracing Life Through the Prism of Neurodiversity 

Neurodiversity is a concept where neurological differences are recognized and respected as any other human variation. These differences can include: intellectual disabilities, autism, learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, and other social, emotional or mental health conditions.

 

  • Please submit proposals that focus on practical information in the IDD/MI subject area. Submissions can focus on a variety of subject areas for children and adults, including but not limited to: public policy issues; coping strategies for caregivers; treatment/therapeutic approaches; forensics; program models; aging-related issues; genetic syndromes; non-drug therapies; new and assistive technology; transitional models; autism spectrum disorders; family issues; employment; whole person care; integrated care within systems; residential services; community integration; crisis services; and wellness & spirituality.  Presentations by families and Direct Support Professionals are encouraged.
  • Other topic areas are encouraged as well.

 

Presentation Categories: 

  1. Presentation/Skill Building Workshop: 90 Minute sessions or 3 Hour, skill-building workshops with a primary focus on the sharing of information in a focused topic area. Examples of topics are program models, research/evaluation studies, specific treatment methods or services. (See submission form for further topics.) Note: There is a limit of five (5) presenters, maximum, for these sessions.
  2. Research Symposia: Three, 30 minute presentations will be combined into one (1) 90 minute symposium with a primary focus on sharing research findings and implications. Appropriate topics include reporting results and implications of basic or applied research studies or program evaluation.
  3. Poster Session: Bulletin boards and/or tables provide presenters with the environment to share their information with presenters and conference attendees. The poster session will take place during the welcome reception on Thursday evening of the conference. Poster sessions will be judged and a research award given.

  • A Presentation Title (No more than six (6) words maximum)
  • In one (1), MS Word document file, compile an Abstract for your Proposal (35 words or less), list at least three (3) educational objectives (found under General Instructions) and a Program Description of no more than two (2) double-spaced pages
  • One (1) complete copy, in a MS Word document file, of the primary presenter’s curriculum vitae or resumé
  • In a MS Word document file, a one-page (1) page curriculum vitae or resumé for each secondary presenter

For Poster Session Proposals included:

  • A Poster Presentation Title (No more than six (6) words maximum)
  • In one (1), MS Word document file, one (1) page, double-spaced (maximum) description of the poster session
  • One (1) complete copy, in a MS Word document file, of the primary presenter’s curriculum vitae or resumé
  • In a MS Word document file, a one-page (1) page curriculum vitae or resumé for each secondary presenter

PRIMARY PRESENTERS

The Primary Presenter will receive all NADD correspondence and will be responsible for communicating all information including Audio Visual coordination to other presenters on the team.

  • Primary Presenters are responsible for a discounted, flat registration fee of $275.00. (This does include the Wednesday Pre-Conferences but does not include Breakfast Consultations or Continuing Education Credit Fees.)
  • Poster Session and secondary Presenters are responsible for all applicable registration fees.
