Access to Services through Knowledge

The National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD) and the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council (FDDC) have partnered to create a database of existing resources, services, and supports available in Florida for family members and other caregivers of people with IDD.  As part of the FDDC’s 5-year State Plan, the goal is to adapt or create a web-based platform that is easy-to-use and accessible to all.

Research study seeks participants for investigation into how families of persons with I/DD utilize and access resources and support services within their local communities.

There is a new study called “Access to Services and Knowledge (ASK) Project” that could help improve and enhance the existing programs and procedures for families of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) within the State of Florida. For this study, you are invited to describe your experiences with locating, utilizing, and learning about I/DD resources within your local community.

This study is part of collaboration among the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed, the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council, and Osceola Research and Evaluation LLC.

About the study:

  • One 90-minute virtual or in-person focus group (or 60-minute interview)
  • To protect your privacy, no names or any personally identifiable information will be collected outside of coordinating your interview/focus group date and time

Volunteers must meet these requirements:

  • Must live in Florida
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have experience utilizing and/or learning about available I/DD resources and support services within your community
  • Must be able to read and understand English, Spanish, Kreyol, or French

This study will be active until June 30, 2023. Participation is voluntary and all responses will be kept confidential. You may exit the focus group or interview at any time. Before you participate, you will be asked to electronically sign an adult consent form.
