DM-ID 2

Below you will find an official addendum to the Diagnostic Manual – Intellectual Disability, Second Edition (DM-ID 2). This addendum aligns the DM-ID 2 with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5-TR), reflecting updates to diagnostic criteria, terminology, and clinical guidance.

Since the publication of DSM-5-TR, clinicians, educators, and researchers have sought guidance to ensure continued consistency between these foundational diagnostic frameworks. The newly released addendum addresses this need by providing targeted updates while preserving the clinical intent and structure of the DM-ID 2.

The release of this addendum underscores NADD’s ongoing commitment to advancing diagnostic accuracy and clinical excellence for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. By aligning DM-ID 2 with DSM-5-TR, we aim to support clinicians in delivering informed, equitable, and evidence-based care.

The DM-ID 2 addendum is intended to be used alongside the existing manual and does not replace the DM-ID 2. It serves as a supplemental resource to ensure continued relevance and alignment with current diagnostic standards.
